So, what’s the deal with secret societies at Brown? Do they seem prevalent? Is there much specualtion about them? On a less secret note, how involved are fraternities at the school?

My conversations about SS’s at Brown were like this,

“I heard there are some secret societies here.”
“Yeah, me too.”
“What’s for lunch?”

The frats and sororities, from my view, host parties and play around on Wriston (sometimes naked when it comes to Thete dudes)…but that’s about all I knew them for. I’m sure they do a few other things, maybe.

They don’t exist. Pacifica was supposedly still active, but I’m thoroughly convinced it no longer has any presence. Even if it did, no one cares and most people don’t know about it.

Agreed with J on the frats and sororities-- they pretty much are only known for their weekend parties. Freshman often look forward to them, sophomores occasionally attend, everyone else pretty much ignores them, at least, in my experience.

^ That website uses poor Latin grammar. Boo!

Also, why would you ask questions about a secret society? Obviously, we’re all members and have to keep it secret. conspiracy

I know at least a couple are active, largely populated with members of the Republic Club, no doubt. I have a big-mouthed friend in one (sure, he’s never said as much outright, but he hints at it all the flippin’ time I guess because it makes him seem ~~cool~~). Whatever, I just want to get into Carrie Tower.
