Im going out to see chicago. Apparently there is only one hotel in all of hyde park. Does anyone else know of any places to stay that are close to campus? Or at least, does anyone have a half-decent map of the area? I have no idea what's where.

uhm, chill out, Hyde Park is a neighborhood. If i was coming to your town, would you recommend I only consider hotels in your neighborhood. The list of hotels on the campus visit sheet are all good, just pick a cheap one, its really easy to get to UofC on public transit (chicago has best public transit system in teh world)
and youll get a map when you get tehre, chill out, bro.
btw, im going to the apr. 19-20 session, is that the one you're going to?

I agree with TheCity. The UChi is near the el. So you only need to stay in a place with good access to public transport, which I think is all of Chicago. We stayed toward O'Hare on a Blue Line (with a relative), only had a tiny detour enroute to the UChi. I have never been in a city where the transport was so easy.

Use priceline.com for the loop & grant park area. I got a good hotel downtown for under $100 night. It is close to both the EL, the metro train (which I recommend), the Express Bus to Hyde Park, and cabs.

Yes - avoid driving to UChicago if you can. Public transit is much easier.

Another point. The EL (rapid transit) runs from each airport to downtown for about $1.75.

chill, dude. You can get a good idea of locations based on the transit maps.
