ive heard about frats feeling like theyr in a gang and getting into fights, what are your experiences or thoughts on this.

Four years ago, two frats at my local CSU got into a fight at the park. It involved about 100 members and resulted in a 23 year old who got stabbed and killed.

Not all frats are like this though and these frats have probably mend their ways.

research the frat before you join it, and know if there are frats like that where you want to attend. basically, just be informed.

I've heard about actual fights...but that's going to be very rare.

My fraternity and the fraternity next door would get in yelling spats, and we'd pull pranks and stuff. Windows routinely get broken, but there are some very funny moments that have happened over the years. In the end it's all in good fun.

It all depends on how bored or drunk people are. At Baldwin Wallace, two brothers got into a fight and the one hit the other one and it snapped some neck thing and killed him. Mostly interfrat stuff is just harmless fun, but don't bring anything valuable into the frat house for sure.

several years ago there was a brawl between 2 (to be unnamed ;-) frats at uva. Generally all that happens is people get drunk and get into shouting matches. Neighboring houses might clear and people will yell, but generally it takes a lot for entire houses to get into fights.

Actual fights seem to be on the decline, but there is a lot of intrafraterinty drama, which makes us akin to sororities.

if fraternities get in fights they are trash, no respectable fraternity would tarnish his letters by getting in a fight
