Fraternity controversy at Swarthmore

Example 5,438 of how social justice activists are never satisfied. Now the Swarthmore kids are on a hunger strike and they are demanding the resignation of the Director of Public Safety.

If they are successful in shutting down the fraternities and sororities, and those undesirables have to join the SJW clubs, what will they have left to protest?

@twoinanddone - Pretty much anything can be problematic if you think creatively, even math and milk have been criticized as white supremacist.

Okay, as long as they will still have a reason for living…

Things have quieted down. No drama at Worthstock yesterday. Kids now focused on finals. The admins mean well. I wish Igor, in admissions, would stop choosing applicants named A.B. Normal

Where will she attend college? She sounds a lot like my daughter (based on your Vassar/Wesleyan/Middlebury) post. My artsy non-athlete loves Midd and Vassar, but I think Vassar or Wes would be better fits, plus she’s a NYC kid, can’t imagine her being happy for 4 years in rural VT.

Parents need to teach their sons to be respectful of women. Heck, parents need to teach their sons AND daughters to respectful of other people. College kids are adults, they need to act like it. This kind of behavior is immature.

Inside Swarthmore’s decision to close frats: The behavior of students who demanded it was an issue, too. https://www.inquirer.com/news/swarthmore-fraternity-shut-greek-life-protest-20191025.html

Phi Psi’s 2019 graduates include a Marine, a med student, a couple of engineers and some investment managers. Valiant gentlemen mentored by the best

S1(non drinker, not a “Bro”) was recruited for baseball at Swarthmore, and was invited to one of the frat’s parties. He commented that it was more of a get together, and was very tame. The one showing him around had his girlfriend there, as did some others. I think he said that it broke up early so they could study(hey, it’s Swarthmore).

He ultimately chose to go to another school, but not because of the frat, which he said was a non issue. It was the divisive, somewhat hysterical behavior by a vocal SJW minority that he didn’t want to put up with for 4 years.

@57special I’m sorry, but just because your son was at one party and didn’t see anything really doesn’t prove anything.

So Marines never sexually assault anybody. That would really surprise the Marines:

Medical students are also never involved in sexual assault:

What about engineers?

https://spectrum.ieee.org/at-work/tech-careers/national-academies-report-says-sexual-harassment-is-a-threat-to-engineering

Hmmm…

Oh, I forgot the investment managers:

But all of this is just a bunch of SJWs whining, right?

Well now that the fraternities are gone there will be no more rapes and wild parties at Swathmore.

@MWolf you’re right, but one bad party at a frat, or anywhere else, would certainly have driven S1 away, as he is not a “frat” person.

Again, what did drive him away from the campus was the atmosphere of OTT, left wing radicalism from a small, but visible and vocal minority. He came from a large public HS with a definite liberal bias(was held up as an example of what is wrong in public education by no less than Newt Gingrich), so is no stranger to the type, but found it off putting.

And hate to break it to you, but every position that ever existed has had a rapist in their midst at one time.
