Fraternity disappointment

I know some people bash on frats but I think they have a bad rep and there are some neat frats out there with good brotherhood.

That being said I just got rejected after rushing winter semester, this after a fail fall semester rush where I had no idea what I was doing. But this winter I was more confident and knew some guys in houses I rushed, and spent a lot of time in a couple of houses I knew were for me from interactions over the past semester. I thought I was for sure going to get at least one bid. I had good conversations with people and they seemed to like me. I was devastated when I didn't get anything from the two middle tiers that I felt really comfortable in. I am usually reserved meeting new people, but I felt good

I am a freshman at a school where 20% of people are in frats and it seems all the people with similar interests as me are all in frats. I am worried about finding a good group of friends. Has anyone else been in this situation? What did you do to forget about Greek life and just accept it. I was really looking forward to joining a brotherhood with solid guys who weren't all about partying. I fear it will be hard to find a new group of friends now. Any advice (I'm not trying to rush again next year, I just cant make good impressions on people)?

You are bound to have some common interests with the other 80% of the guys at your school – it takes a little more effort on your part to find them in a bigger group, but they are out there. Try not to spend time wondering what happened with rush & move on – identify some other groups, be they pre-professional, arts, religious, service, whatever interests you, and keep at it.

As much as I loved my fraternity experience, I would be lying if I said it were irreproducible. @Yaupon says it perfectly: It will take more work, but luckily for you this is a school where 80% of people are not in fraternities, identify some other organization on campus that you want to join and immerse yourself there.
