this ranking looks like it’s based solely on the size of the fraternity here at UT. I’d add a little more basis than that to rank them (if that’s even possible). Also, I’d add at least Pi Kapp and Delta Chi to the mid-tier list.

really? you’re gonna put SAE as a top-tier? dude, they killed a pledge and there are people still here that were students when it happened, they just finished losing a major law-suit, don’t rank just on size or “prestige” because that basically means which is most likely to haze…and no, i’m not one of those self righteous people that talk about how bad all frats are because they all haze, I’m actually pledging a fraternity…well pledge line is in 3 weeks or so…but I have heard stories from the older brothers at my intended house, about SAE, FIJI, Sig Ep, etc.

Just a quick correction, when you say SAE lost a major lawsuit, that is not quite correct. The fraternity “failed to respond to filings” and by default lost the suit, but the judge overturned the default ruling and has rescheduled the case.

^^my gf said FIJI is alright but everyone there thinks they are “so cool” and she met a lot of loser guys. she HATED SAE, she said they are all a little chubby and not that cool either.

i guess I learned theyre all the same. this isn’t some ivy league school where everyone in the top fraternity is rich as hell. The couple FIJI’s I know are definitely NOT wealthy. so it’s kind of lame.

and if theres only 40 bids or so a year. how the hell are you supposed to get a bid unless you know someone? cause all of the actives probably know at least a few people that want to join.

That’s the point. They don’t bid random kids, they bid kids they already know are going to fit in.

Most fraternities at Ivy League schools are not full of wealthy kids. The fraternity system is not particularly strong at the Ivy League beacause of institutions like Final Clubs, Secret Societies, and Eating Houses. DKE at Yale was a notable exception, but even they have slipped recently.

I don’t know what Phi Gams you know but they have to be able to afford $6,000+ a year in dues so they or their family must have some money. It’s more likely that they have money and simply don’t flaunt it because most of them are good guys from good backgrounds.

“loneranger”, you’re a phidelt and thus have absolutely no right to talk about “top tier” fraternity rankings. you guys are socially irrelevant and the majority of campus doesn’t know you exist.

for everyone else, any rankings you find on here will be about as accurate as their posters are anonymous

This thread is revolting. Please close. Few greeks are relevant to campus; the majority, given that there’s over 48,000 students, know only a handful in the greek system.

How is it revolting? You say that since most ppl at UT aren’t in a certain org. it shouldn’t be relevant, but there are tons of ppl here so there really aren’t many orgs. that are supported by the majority of the student body, so heck lets shut the whole UT forum down!

again as ag54 said, you should be looking for the one that suits you best, not one that’s just “good” or “throws good parties” like in my case I felt that I fit best in Acacia and that’s why I accepted the bid they gave me, not because they’re “good” or some other BS tier system.
