What are some the reputations of the fraternities and sororities at U of I?

Ohh! Seconded, I'm curious about this too.

I know all fraternities preach that they do philanthropy, but is there any fraternity on campus that actually does or is known for their community service?

At the end of the day, the types of fraternities and sororities that have houses and are considered part of the "greek system" are for social purposes, though they do have some fundraisers and philanthropy events. There are separate honors and service fraternities.

I would put Pi Beta Phi in the Top Sororities and take Kappa Delta out.

I also noticed that there were a bunch of business fraternities. What are the reputations for those? How hard is it the get into the top ones, especially for international students?

business fraternities are full of stuck up students who think they own the world

^ That's a generalization that you obviously can't apply to everyone. But yes, I know someone who fits that stereotype in Delta Sigma Pi who is quite wealthy and has a tendency to be self entitled. Add to that, he is white-washed.

Won't joining a community service group and a social fraternity be too much of a time commitment? Won't their events conflict with each other?

Bump
Not in a frat, but I’m pretty sure all frats are pretty much the same in the end… they create a good public image but on the inside it’s all about getting wasted and doing stereotypical frat things.
^^^only some of the frats. There are plenty of frats that have a different persona.
