<p>We're going to visit Dickinson with my D this fall. She isn't a big drinker and I'm just wondering how big a part do frats play in the social life there. Are there other activities on and off campus for the students? Thanks.</p>
<p>My D (junior at Dickinson) is a non-drinker. You question was her biggest worry before arriving at Dickinson. But when she got there, she found it was a non-issue. Some of the kids party with the frats/sororities. But many don’t. She joined campus clubs, goes to movies, swing dances, attends plays and events on campus, etc. I am not sure how much organized stuff there is (I mean organized by Dickinson), but she always finds plenty to do. Her boyfriend and close friends are all non-drinkers, too. She did go to one frat party just to see what it was about, but hasn’t been to any others. Also, her boyfriend belongs to a service fraternity, which either does not have any partying involved, or else it is okay to belong and not partake, as he does not. The “regular” frats do drink and party – but it definitely does not dominate the social scene. Hope that helps!</p>
