Freaking out a litte bit....

I applied to PSU at the end of October. Don't they have rolling admissions? I feel like I should have heard by now. Could this extended time mean something is wrong with my scores or grades?
Do I need to be worried? Just wanting to calm some nerves.

you have nothing to worry about. I would say you should easily get in. I got in last month with a 30 ACT and a 3.5 GPA you should get in very soon. If you don’t get a reply by Feb 1st then you should call them but they probably havent looked at you application yet.

I agree, you probably haven’t been looked at yet because you have pretty solid stats, I got in with a 1990 SATS and a 3.67 uw GPA…best of luck!

I’d say you’re for sure in, because those are stellar stats. Very surprised you didn’t get in with the first batch.

Uhmazingmallory, what school did you apply to? I know that the honors college and business school is very difficult to get in to. I’m just curious because I applied in October as an undeclared major and I haven’t heard back yet either.

If you apply before November 30th, they will give you the decision around Jan 28th
If you apply before December 30th, they will give you the decision around Feb 28th
Is on the Mypenn description

Italicshadow: I am applying to the College of Arts and Architecture, to pursue a BFA in Musical Theatre. And I’m applying to Schreyer’s right now actually!

Thank you everyone!

Have you scheduled your audition yet? According to the psu website, it looks like for application to the BFA Musical Theatre major you also need to schedule an audition by February 1.

Oh yes, that was scheduled a long time ago. I was done with all my applications by November, so it’s just weird to have to wait so long, haha!

Hi mallory! My daughter is auditioning for the Musical Theatre BFA this Saturday at the NY Unifieds. The person I spoke to said the application status will not change until after the audition. We’re in North Florida and my daughter has also been very involved with thespians. She has been to state every year. She performed on the mainstage last year and this year she finally gets to compete in solo musical (her school only allows seniors to compete). Anyway, hope this puts your mind at ease.

Oh- and my daughter applied mid-October. It’s the only school she’s still waiting to hear from. The admissions person also told me that if she doesn’t get in the BFA MT program, then she would need to call admissions and they can discuss alternatives (I asked about this because I thought you had to be accepted into the school first). Of course, I have a lot of confidence in my daughter but as you know, if they already have someone like her in the program, she may not get in. Hundreds of kids audition and they only have spots for less than 20. That’s theatre for you. Good luck to you mallory. Your stats are Uhmazing!

Wow, thank you! That really relaxes me. Good luck to your daughter as well!!!

You’re welcome! Glad I can help. I certainly understand how frustrating this wait can be. I went through the same process with my son two years ago but with him being a boy- it was much less competitive. Boys have it so much easier!

Definitely, haha. Oh, to be a boy :p
