So as APs are coming I'm starting to be really nervous that I'm going to bomb mine. I'm taking Lit, Spanish Lang, and US Gov. For those of you who have taken them, what are your thoughts on them? Lit I feel well prepared, just seems impossible to do well on and the school I'm going to only accepts 5s. Spanish is my favorite class, and I'm REALLY good at Spanish, but whenever I practice with the Barrons AP book I have NO IDEA what is going on in it- is the test really that difficult? And US Gov... well, I have a terrible teacher and seriously know NOTHING so I just have to study hard. What are your thoughts on how easy/hard the tests are and how to handle this? For some reason I feel like its impossible to do well... I need a 3-5 on Spanish, a 4-5 on Gov, and a 5 on Lit to get any credit.

Calm down. If you have money to spend, get the Sparknotes PowerPack, because you are running out of time. You can also try the many different online review sites. The College Board releases previous FRQs, so look for them for Lit.

If you can devote roughly 18 hours per class, you can do it.

18 hours per class? Thats so much time! CC people are crazy haha

No. You need less than 5 hours per class. I had that feeling when I was taking APs for the first time, but you come to realize that the multiple choice is usually very easy and you only need a chunk of the part II points for a 4 or 5.

the gov test is not hard. at all. Just buy yourself a princeton review and read it two times through. (But take the time to memorize the Court cases; they always show up.) The material is only about 110 pages long (and that's including the practice questions pages) so that isn't a daunting task. But you need to start NOW since the test is monday.

Concerning Lit: most of this material you should know; you really can't study for this test. (except if you don't know lit terms, you should learn those.) The lit test requires knowledge of some "books of literary merit" (i.e. anything Shakespeare, Bronte, famous old farts, and some new books like Kite RUnner, Atonement, etc.). The best thing to do is read up on the books you read via sparknotes and hope that they are on the test. 2 of the essay questions test your ability to analyze so again, there's really no way you can prepare in a week.

and you should stop freaking out. you're only taking 3 APs.

5 hours if you already know your material. 18 hours if you are pretty much clueless.

US Gov was probably the easiest test I've taken. (Then again, I'm really interested in that kind of stuff...so yeah...) You should go over some practice tests though. And invest in a review book (REA's a good one), since your teacher sucks.

As for lit, just take lots of practice tests. And know a few novels /really/ well, so you'll be ready for the novel FRQ.

Hows the Spanish one for most people?

If you speak Spanish everyday, and you know how to read and write it to a good degree, you will pass with flying colors.

The only problem about Chinese is that I can't write it. Chinese does not have enough Roman influence, I guess.

^ all the writing for ap chinese will be done on the computer, so it's up to the test taker to recognize it and know its hanyu pinyin, which I can do fairly well.

I'm just terrified for the speaking part, though. I choke whenever I'm given a prompt... I'm not very eloquent.
