Hi guys,
I got a much lower sat than expected (expected 2000+ as i was getting around 2100 on practice tests from the blue book).

i got a 1900 (700M 620CR 580W) Super score:1920...
My GPA is 3.56 UW

My EC are pretty decent:
Work at a mortgage company
work at a pizza place
Varsity Hockey (MVP 4 years straight and assistant captain of 3 years)
Treasurer of UNICEF
Science Olympiad (2nd place at local high school science olympics)
school newspaper editor
member of volunteer organization (key club)

Essays: fairly good 8/10
Recommendations: pretty good 8/10

I REALLY WANT TO MAJOR IN ENGINEERING/ COMP SCIE

what good schools can i get into with my stats? I was thinking of UIUC, purdue, etc...

but I'm scared that i won't get into any... do i even have a chance i top tier schools such as the UC's or others?

Perdue is a possibility
USC is a possibility too
university of Connecticut
boston university
uc Santa Barbara
uc Santa Cruz
uc riverside
uc Davis
Loyola Marymount

test scores aren’t all they look at…
have you taken a lot of ap’s?

UMD and Virginia Tech are great engineering schools. What is your weighted GPA? Your SAT scores aren’t that low but an option is retaking in Jan. I have a similar score and am finding getting acceptances isn’t the issue in most cases, it’s more qualifying for merit aid so don’t fret too much. I don’t know anything about the schools on your list but I believe you would be accepted to VT. UMD I’m not sure, your GPA might be low for regular decision. Good luck!

OH YA. I am an international student (canada) and do not need any financial aid. Ive taken honours classes and this year am taking numerous AP classes

Do you need financial aid? If so, don’t bother applying to state university and purdue.

UIUC isn’t a good shot if you are an international student with such GPA AND SAT, same for Purdue engineering(would be easier if you don’t do engineering).

The problem is that your GPA is VERY low for top schools, and higher SAT will give an impression that you are slacker in school(whether you really are or not)
So,
Purdue(ENGR), UIUC-low reach
UCLA/UCB/UCSD-out of reach
UCM/UCR-low match
UCI/UCD-low reach
UCSB-match

Yeah, but still OOS status will be a big impediment, plus your GPA is too low for UCLA/UCB/UCSD unless your UC GPA is good(but your ECs are really lacking)
How can you work when you are an international student?
