In my AP English LAnguage, my teacher gets most kids 4s, some 5s. But the cliffnotes multiple choice is KILLING me! I got a 720 on the SAT CR and a 790 on the Writing, so I know I can do English questions. My question is: What kind of essay scores and multi-choice do you need to get on the AP test to pull down a 4? Thanks!

i got a 4 last year and i was TERRIBLE at multiple choice. i dont remember the conversion chart for lang, but in ap lit we just took a practice test and i got a 9, 8, and 6 on the essays and a 69% multiple choice score - I BARELY pulled a 5. So, adjust accordingly for your multiple choice score.

personally, i'd estimate with a 50% multiple choice you'd need 8, 7, and 7. alas, not to worry, on the day of the exam the multiple choice is SO much easier (i think its more of a focus thing - at least it is for me).

Why don't you ask your teacher about your prospects? Sound like you have a good one who is probably happy to talk to you about your preparation.

What books do you guys recommend for AP Language?

I'll bump :)

My English Lang teacher had never taught before and will not teach at my high school again. 88% of test takers passed from my school passed, though many opted not to take the test bc of inadequate class prep. I got a 4 even though my essays completely sucked. I think you just need to rock the MC.
