Freaking out over in-state vs. Out-of-state tuition

I am currently a high school senior still applying to undergrad. I am applying to out of sate and in state public schools in addition to some private schools. However I REALLY do not want to stay in Texas. I need to travel around and explore the country, and I would like to do that with college and med school.

Tuition for out of state and public schools is expensive though, so is it worth it to stay in a place I am sick of and have very few friends in or spend the extra money to attend a better ranked school in a place I know I love (philly, d.c., atlanta). Any advice is appreciated!

My suggestion would be to attend in-state public if you are not eligible for large merit aid at any private or OOS public universities. If you are sick of where you live and don’t have any ties to the community, Texas is a large state! Pick another area of the state. I am sure you realize how costly your education will end up if you do attend medical school. I would attend a decent undergrad, trying to save up to lower the overall cost by the time you are done with all of your schooling. You have many years in front of you to make the choice to move OOS!
