I haven't prepared at all! I am taking a Precal class at my school and am doing well, but most of the questions on the math iic are not like the ones we do at school at all! I expected that, but I guess I am just going in blind. I looked through the Barron's math iic prep and I only got maybe 2 out of the 20 problems I tried right! This really sucks...is it really that difficult?

How did you guys prepare? How will you guys think you will do on sat?

Oh yeah and I only have a TI scientific calculator. Will not having a graphing calc hurt me a lot? Actually I do have one but it's an older model and I don't know how to use it.

umm my advice to you is to take the IC. There is no reason that you should take the IIC as you dont seem prepared for it at all. Although the curve is much better on the IIC, it is a MUCH harder test. The IC will look more like what you see in precalc.

I mean I'm not COMPLETELY unprepared for it but I could prepare for it if I had more time. Maybe I will take the iic on Sat just to see where I stand, and over the summer I will study for it and take it early next school year. I really don't think the ic will look very good even if I get a high score on it.

Yea I am not quite so unprepared but I am very nervous for IIC. I took some practice tests and did okay on them (690-710) but it is not like I got questions wrong from making careless errors...I didn't know how to do some of them. I hope I do okay on saturday!

yeah i tend to have a problem with math. i do very well in school in math classes, but the thing is the time. I never check my work in any class except math because i tend to make stupid mistakes..so when I do that on SAT math, i tend not to finish those sections. Reading/writing I finish like 10 minutes early because i dont check that, i go with my gut and do better...math even the first problem i need to check to make sure i didnt f it up.

I think I'm gonna just work out of Barron's. It's hard but all of the tests are good at showing your weaknesses and I heard if you can do well on the Barrron's you can definitely do well on the real one...

^ well depends. some stuff that shows up on barrons (the last two-three questions on every test) never evvver shows up on the real tests & just gets some students freaked out about it. but it differs from person to person :)

make sure you have all the programs on your graphing calculator. i solved almost everything pushing buttons & not thinking about what i had to do because i had all programs (heron's, angle, distance btwn 3points, 2points, point & line, etc) i needed. i finished really early too :D

Be careful about switching to IC. Some schools--including the UCs--ONLY accept IIC. If you have a list of schools you're interested in CHECK FIRST. Good luck tomorrow.

I am going to use a scientific calculator, and that will probably put me at a huge disadvantage. I have no idea how to use graphing calcs and am not going to learn how to use it in a few hours. Oh man...I feel like I am going to go in there and sit there knowing how to do anything for a whole hour....:(

i don't know any precalc and i forgot all my geometry and i still get 700-750's on practice tests without studying because i'm pretty damn good with the calculator (btw i'm taking it in June...gotta start studying now that AP's are over)

so yea, i suggest you get one and learn it...it'll really help you
