Yeah, I would be pretty shocked if you got rejected. Where you from?

Your stats look great. I think you are in.

You’re most likely in.

summer school at worst.
see you in the fall! :)

thank you guys verry much for the replies…and one question…what the whole summer school deal with UT-A?

(UT-A is UT Arlington. UT Austin is just called UT.)

I think you will be admitted for fall but you never know how much stress the top 10% kids are going to put on the UT admissions system.

If you don’t get regular fall admission, they may tell you that you are admitted but you are part of the Summer Freshman Class. That means that in order to be a Longhorn in the fall, you need to take a classes M-Th for 10 weeks in the summer. (I think this is often used for Texas students with very good grades and test scores who went to excellent schools so were not in the top 10%. There is no stigma associated with being in the Summer Freshman Class. People don’t think you were too dumb to be in the regular fall class. Anyone who gets in who was not in the top 10% has to be pretty sharp.)

This is known for being not too academically challenging. (The 10-week freshman classes are intro level courses that kill some of your distribution requirements - did you know Texas requires 2 U.S. history classes and 2 gov classes for graduation?) This is also known for being a lot of fun. You meet people and learn where things are and how campus works, cafeteria, laundry, Starbucks, gym, etc., so you are one of the experts in August when the rest of the freshman show up.

My daughter did the regular second summer session last year and met a lot of the Summer Freshman kids. They had been in Austin for five weeks and were enjoying Summer Freshman Class. Weekends are quiet on campus in the summer though, since Summer Freshman Class courses meet M to Th - there kids fairly often go home on weekends. (Regular summer school is in two five-week sessions, Monday through Friday.)

Thanks for clearing that up…and thanks for al of the people who replied…i was just a little worried becasue my rank to me is not that big of a deal since its not that hard to get at my school…im just glad my ACT scores are in the UT mid/high range for OOS applicants…

If you go to UT, be sure to join the Out Of State Students Association.

Thanks…and whats the Out Of State Students Association?

It is just an Out Of State Students club - very laid back - they meet the first Tuesday of the month. It is nice to get to know the other kids from your own area or your favorite area, people who who ended up at UT with you.

oh ok sounds good…ill be sure to check it out if i get in…

98% chance of getting. You’re more likely to get attacked by a shark or struck by lightning than get denied. Take comfort in that…kinda

haha thanks guys so much for easing my mind a bit…

bump…any more opinions? are my chances still good considering the decrease in acceptance rate for UT to 44% of applicants?

Where did you hear the 44% rate? Just curious.

Collegeboard…in December 2008 the rate on collegeboard was about 50% and in january 2009 they changed it to 44%.

‘98% chance of getting. You’re more likely to get attacked by a shark or struck by lightning than get denied. Take comfort in that…kinda’

hahaha awesome post

and yea , i def think ull get in :)
