Pretty much all the schools I applied to had a January 15th deadline. One was a paper application, the others were online. I checked today and one of my teacher recommendations wasn’t submitted through the common app/naviance! I know she wrote it because I saw her seal the paper/letter application. It’s like 2 weeks late, what will the colleges say? I also just sent out my dual enrollment transcripts because I didn’t know my school would take so long to process them. Should I call and explain? Will it even matter, will they have just denied me anyways because it’s after the deadline?
PS I don’t go to the school where she teaches anymore and it’s pretty far away. I sent her an email 2 days ago and she still hasn’t responded, should I go see her in person? Is it even worth it, have the colleges already de facto rejected me?
The deadline for applications is meant for you. If you have your application in, the schools are fine if your transcripts, test scores and recs show up a bit later, so don’t hyperventilate. They know you don’t control what everyone else does. And the fact that something doesn’t show up as received isn’t a big deal either : Many schools are awash in submissions right now so the systems aren’t up to date. Chances are she did send it in and its just taking a while for the schools to acknowledge receipt. Give her a few more days to reconfirm that the letter was sent - as it surely was. But even if it wasn’t, and it goes in late, that won’t reflect poorly on you. It just delays the completion of your file and the review of your application. Not a big deal at all.
I mean that it’s not in on naviance. I’m not 100% clear about how it all works but the high school admin says that it means that she hasn’t uploaded it and that there’s no way she sent it.
