OK, so Son is applying to various schools. Some schools have on-line view of what items have been received in the app process. Transcript was checked off for one school, so I assumed all schools received. Well, just discovered from SPS that 6th grade transcript was not received, but 7th & current year grades were. I'm freaking out. Do I have his current school send 6th grade transcript to ALL schools now? Or do I call each school to see if they received?

On top of this my child's school is closed Friday, so I basically need to have this all done by lunch tomorrow so I can go during my work lunch break and make my request & beg it gets done by 1/15.

I also just realized that Son didn't pass out a personal rec for one of the schools. Hopefully the person he forgot to give it to kept a copy of one of the other recs he wrote for Son so this "missing" once will get done by 1/15.

Am I the only one freaking out?

What will happen if one piece of the application is missing (such as 6th grade transcript or an ec rec)?

I REALLY hope all the teachers sent in their recs! One school confirmed they received all teacher recs, but not showing up for the other schools.

Call the schools. One school told me they were unable to update the info. on line. It also looked as though my D's info. was not all there when I checked on line, but when I called they had everything.

After Jan 15, if his application is still not complete, they send a letter or card indicating which material is missing. So you stlll have more than a week even after Jan 15. They start application from January 31 or February 1. Do not worry too uch about this. But it is strange that they have not receieved just one grade's transcript. Usually tye school send the whole transcripts at once. Unless your son went to a different school for 6th grade from the 7th grade, I think they should have sent the whole transcript(6th + 7th + and the first term of the 8th grade) in one packagae with other school reports from the principal. I suugest that you should check the middle school if they sent the whole required material to each school. if they did, then you check with the BS your son is applying just to make sure that they misplaced the transcript. Sometimes, the person who compiles the transcripts forget to update the info as emdee says.
The bottome line is that it cand be takes care of somehow. Do not panic. Your son will not be excluded from the school because of this.

I didn't even send my sixth grade transcript, I really wouldn't worry about it. Did he switch schools from sixth to seventh? If so I wouldn't worry, and even if not I still wouldn't worry.

I wouldn't worry either. The schools will call / send a postcard if there are missing items. One school called me and said a recommendation was missing although that English teacher had gotten it in to the other schools. Apparently it had gotten lost. The teacher kept a copy, sent it in, and there was no problem.

It's fine to call each/any school and ask if the app is complete.

It's fine to call, but please remember that right now the most popular schools are already behind in opening their mail. Pieces of your application might physically be IN the office, but not yet processed and in your file...JUST opening the mail takes a really, really long time. And once you're done opening one bucket, three more come off the mail truck.

i'm freaking out as well. I gave my extracurricular recommendations to two of my teachers about 2 months ago and I asked them to have the recommendation done by Dec. 31st. They haven't even started. AUGHHHHH!

Ohh hotchkissjin that is really frustrating.. I can't imagine the schools would mind AS much if the recs were late though because when it all comes down to it, even if you were on top of your game and gave them to the teachers in september there's still a chance that the teacher is going to be irresponsible and not get them in on time, and the BS can't really penalize you for that.

Yeah, my sons teachers had his recs a month ago. One (math) teacher had hers done and mailed within 24 hrs! The other two (piano and English) and the office still have not sent any in yet! I sent them a reminder email yesterday asking them to please mail everything by this Friday! Crossing my fingers that his files will be complete in time!!
