Freaking Out

OK...I was looking again at combined programs and saw that some require certain MCAT scores (usually 28 or above). How hard is it to attain these types of scores? Also does anyone know the national MCAT average?

I'm thinking a 28 is either avg or below avg.

most traditional applicants aim for at least a 30 or 31 to get into ANY med school, so needing a minimum of 28 is really pretty good.

How hard is it to get a 28? If I'm in the top 3% of my school and am more of a science and math person, would I do alright?

well aren't you in hs right now?

uh, i think its a bit too early to figure out how well you will do on the mcats. If you do well on sat 2s and sat 1 verbal, it might be an indication that you can do well on the mcats (they are both subject based and sat 1 verbal is similar to verbal reasoning on the mcats). But keep in mind, many things will change between now and then. Many good students often veer off course in college and end up doing pretty badly.

and vice versa, people who did terrible on the SATs can change a lot in a few years, things can just click for you while in college while you may have been dumb founded about everything during high school.

im more worried about getting INTO a program (crossing my fingers for PSU, ill go nuts if I get accepted)

we can worry about MCATs once we get in
