Free AP tests at your school?

Hey. I was just wondering if anybody else's school pays for everyone's AP tests. So far my school is the only one I know of...

Our school pays for ours if we get a 3 or higher

A few schools in New York and Los Angeles pay for AP tests, regardless of the score.

We get a free AP test per 1000 minutes of tutoring (aka sitting in a computer lab and playing games). Not a bad deal at all.

we pay for the first AP test we take each year and any others that we take the school board pays for, provided that we've also enrolled in the class for that exam (like u cant just sign up for all of them and expect them to pay for all 35 exams)

The school pays for all of ours. I'm sure sure about self-study ones, you probably have to be in the class...but people from my school don't really take them outside of a class that much. And you do have to pay if you're signed up but end up not taking it...like if you freak out and just don't come or something. But that doesn't happen much either.

My school registers and pays for your AP tests when you are in the class. You have to take the test . If you self-study then you have to pay the $80+. But self-study is rare at my school, I didn't if know you could do that until the CC/

luckky, we have to pay $90 bucks per AP test. crazyy.

We get to pay $84 per test. I guess it's sorta better than $90?

Our school gives it for free if you are under the poverty level.

My school pays for all the ap tests if your taking the class but if your self studying then you have to talk to the ap coordinator about taking the test.

My school charges up to $132/exam if it is late, $82 normally. Self-study is not permitted as the exams have to be authorized by the teachers, who will only do so if you are taking the class.

My school bans self study so I just took all my AP exams at a high school across town.

The county pays for all the tests you have a class for in my district. For self study you usually have to pay for the examl; however I got one subsidized for me by asking the environmental teacher to tell the school that he is advising me.

I basically have had to pay 164 dollars for 14 exams. Not bad...

We don't take ours at school... we drive over to a community college and are exused all day from school.

we used to take them at school but this year they are making us take most of the exams offsite and we are also excused from school.

I'm curious, why do schools seem to discourage students from self-studying? Do schools get extra recognition when students take the class and pass the test? Do they look bad if kids who don't take the class do well in the test? The thought really does bother me..

I'm not quite sure myself. My school allows self-study, though I had to convince the director of guidance that I was sure I wanted to do it and that I'd be capable of doing it. So I guess it might be because they think kids who don't take the class won't do as well on the exam? That could lower the status/recognition of the school.

We have to pay all 82 dollars.

Except, of course, if you are out of country: NoFX paid almost $185/exam to take it at a school in NZ.
