<p>yes, before you submit your css, you have to either pay or they tell you that you are eligible to send the report to a certain number of schools for free. They base that on the figures you entered in your profile, and usually people with low EFC are eligible for it. In my case, I get to send 6 reports for free.</p>

<p>nicesocks, haha I had the same reaction as you when I found out about the CSS (which you have to pay for, unlike the FAFSA! >:O) about a week ago. The whole college admissions process remains a mystery to me....</p>
