This is so going on the back of my car. And by my car I mean my mom's minivan.

i cannot wait to post that decal of whatever college i decided to go to onto my car.

fun times.

haha yeah its ironic, because like the day after i got in we bought 2 decals from the coop online. oh well. guess i'll have to stick this one on my forehead.

i wouldnt put a decal, and neither would my parents. i guess we are just too modest.

besides, its more fun when someone doubts your talent and then you hit um with the facts. (i.e. "ooh, im a snooty jerk and i think that your son is stupid and is stuck in community college and thats the only reason you dont have a decal." response: "actually, he goes to harvard")

I think that's a funny statement.

I'm not putting it on my car, but I'm pretty sure my dad will put it on his.

IT SHALL GO ON MY FERRARI. that's F for FERRARi.

"i guess we are just too modest."

Oh, the irony...

Anyway, I won't put on the sticker because it would obviously come off as a bit pretentious. That's the same reason I don't wear Harvard t-shirts around school.

Lol It's unhumble to tell someone you are humble. (talk about a paradox)

(btw that was a joke)

I'm glad you caught on!

lol you had teachers there earlier, i thought it was supposed to be a pun i didnt understand

haha actually I recently wore my Swarthmore hoodie and was accosted for not wearing H gear xD

My mother said that she hates decals/bumper stickers, but she'll be more than willing to put anything with Harvard on it on her car :)

Yeah, I've had a hat, shirt, and sweatpants for a month now, but have only worn the hat. Even then I won't wear it to school. I get enough Harvard jokes every day: "Hey Harvard boy!"..."They wouldn't accept that answer at Harvard." or the ever-popular response whenever I jokingly correct someone or try to make an argument in conversation: "Sorry, man, we can't all get into Harvard."

The best part is, every single person thinks that he/she is the most original bastard out there...

I get that sometimes too, but... I'd rather have them say that than "sorry you didn't get in..." :)

i get that too, and i used to be slightly bothered by it but i now i just go with it. im still a little hesitant to wear any H parephenalia to school though. (partly because i have none yet, partly because i have friends who didn't get in). also, do you find it really awkward when people ask you where you're going? like i had a teacher ask me and i so i said harvard really quietly but he couldnt hear me so i said it kinda louder but he still couldnt and everyone just yelled HARVARD. awkward. pretentious. but yay. harvard. coolness.

I think for the rest of our lives there will be that awkwardness. My acceptance spread like wildfire through my city, and everyone keeps cracking jokes (tastefully) and congratulating me. I don't think there's any escaping it, but I guess all you can do is take it in stride and smile.

And I bought some sweatpants from the Coop and they had the Harvard emblem on at the top of the leg near the waist, but apparently they weren't mens', but rather "unisex." Long story short, my ass and my crotch were slightly overemphasized due to the tightness of the pants. I returned them and the only other gray sweats that I could find had "HARVARD" or "CRIMSON" in huge letters down the left leg.

I think that not wearing Harvard items because you think it is pretenious or cocky is actually pretenious or cocky in itself.

It's the college you are going to. It's not pretenious. All of my friends wear their UVA and Virginia Tech hoodies and t-shirts, and no one would ever regard that as pretenious. Why should I feel that I can't wear mine just because it's Harvard? I think that kind of thinking is why Harvard gets a bad name in the first place.

No offense though, lol

yea ur right, but its still percieved as pretentious when u wear H stufff

I plan on wearing it come April when other people get into schools. As of right now, I have about 10 good friends who were rejected from Ivies. I wear my hat when I go out, but not to school.

"also, do you find it really awkward when people ask you where you're going? "

Prepare for this to be the story of your life.
With the exception of places like job interviews or the Yale game, the way Havard people usually answer it, "I went to school in Massachusetts," then quickly change the subject.

If the questioner persists, they'll ask something like, "BU?"

The H student replies, "No," as if BU would be too much of a stretch, and then quickly changes the subject.

I saw exactly this exchange in the old flick "Good-bye Columbus." It rang very true. In fact, I saw it at Harvard Sq. when I was in college and lots of the auidence laughed knowingly.

well since harvard is the top school in the world, its too much like bragging. im not gonna wear anything (related to harvard) because 1. its not regarded as pretentious and 2. its cooler when people doubt you and you hit um with the news.

ugh, sometimes its kinda lame. a friend of mine was complaining about how everyone has an ipod, and some kid was like "ha you're only saying that because you dont have an ipod" and my friend was like "yes i do" so according to my friend, the kid shut up and fell back into place. still, what difference does having an ipod make? i mean does having an ipod make you better than those who dont?
