<p>I wanted to know what kinds of services or things are free at UT for students? like the shuttle bus. Also what are some places you can recommend freshman to go explore around UT?</p>

<p>Try to find/access the underground tunnel system. It exists. There was a blog post about it some time ago, but UT made them remove some details. It probably isn’t accessible easily, and you would most likely get in trouble if caught.</p>

<p>Wikipedia says: UT has an extensive underground tunnel system that links many of the buildings. The tunnel system is used for communications and utility service. It is closed to the public and is guarded by silent alarms. </p>

<p>Yeah, I’d assume you’d get in pretty big trouble for going in there. It’s probably a big insurance liability to the school if they can’t prove access is restricted to authorized personnel only.</p>
<p>You could look for the entrances and take a picture. That might be… fun enough.</p>
<p>Whatever school you are in, there will be a free event or picnic on Tuesday August 25 (probably bar-b-q or pizza), followed by the big Gone To Texas program in front of the tower, and then a concert afterwards. This is the night before classes start.

They quit collecting admission toward the end of each show so you can stop by at the end of a show and listen.</p>

<p>There will be free concerts in front of the tower at other times of year. People seem to like the Kite Festival in Zilker Park. A lot of Austin stuff is free. <p>Famous people come to speak in the Union all the time and students get in for free. I saw Maya Angelou and met Morgan Spurlock. </p>
<p>Also, the film committee plays movies for free in the Union. Good ones that have just came out too.</p>
<p>The classic movie night at the Union is clutch when you are a freshman…it’s awesome to see flicks like Casablanca and Gone with the Wind and Toy Story on the big screen.</p>
