Could taking free online classes in a variety of subjects be counted as a good summer activity for the Ivies? Is it on the same level as community college classes in the summer? It's legit; it's run by Stanford and you get a certificate upon finishing a course. I was just looking for something else to do in the summer and was wondering if it would help in the admissions process. Thanks.

203 views but no response? C’mon… bump

Bump again. I forgot to mention that the classes belong to an entity called “Udacity” and sponsored by Stanford. I was looking ahead at the possible classes and they range from Physics to Applied Cryptology to Logic and Discrete Mathematics. It sounds really interesting. Proper certification comes after a final exam.

Personally, i’ve never heard of this before reading your post. After a little research, then realizing you had said, you don’t get actual college credit, just a certificate. I don’t know the answer to your question, but do know that I am signing up for Physics 101 right after I send this message, might as well… Thanks lol. Let me know which you sign up for.

^ Yes, I should note that one won’t recieve college credit upon completing the class, but I’ve read somewhere finishing a class could potentially help in finding a job.

Bump… It’s a fairly simple question…

I would think any demonstration of intellectual couriosity would be a plus. How much will it help??? no idea. Cant hurt though.

Physics 101 might be a good may to prep for sr year physics. I may sign up too. Thnx
