I've heard from some people that you recive a few hundred points just for filling out all the work. Is this true? and if it is how many extra points do you get? Thanks

I heard a joke for the old SAT. That if you write your name correctly you automatically start with a 400. If your stupid, well now we know why your perfect score is a 1200.

Its actually 200, if I'm not mistaken.

200-800 per section

You start with a 200, and it's not for "filling it out corrrectly," it's just because that's the way they do it.

yes you get 200 on each section if you fill out your name.
If you don't fill out your name they don't know who you are so you get a zero.

wow 200 on each section? So basically all you have to do to get a 600 is get half your problems right. Thanks for clearing that up

With the SAT's the way they do it is there scale starts at 200 because they don't provide scores lower though apparently they do exist buy you need to get -3 on your raw score or lower, but nonetheless college board will give a lowest score possible as 200. As to these "free points" if you do fill out all your personal information [name, HS, etc.] but don't answer any questions this will be assumed as a cancellation of the scores and thus will results in no score.

Hmm, well it really depends on the scoring scale for that certain test, though assuming you answered every question and got only half of them right you would be in the 470's for verbal and the 460's for math [at least based on the October 2005 SAT's], so...

And if you get half the problems right and answer none incorrectly, that would be a 520V, 480M, and 480W based on January's curve.

actually... you would get something around 240-250 if you don't fill anything in.. if you get like -5 you'd get 200
