Everyone else's essays seem to be soo good...
i'm really worried now, cuz my FRQs seem to be kind of bad..

my dbq: 1. children were supposed to obey parents, parents had a duty to teach their children (Luther said his daughter was "obedient, respectful" in the play the father talks about his duty to his D, the pamphlet discusses how parents have a duty to their sons)

leading to practices:
2. physical punishment (king henry IV wanted his kid to be tough as he was going to be the furture monarch)
and
3. teaching by reason. (influenced by the Enlightenment, such as Locke, Rousseau and Cavendish )

i did #3 (fall of the Soviet Union) and 5 (German reunification) .
for 3, i talked about
1. the cold war, tensions between the east and west and how that hurt the economy (kind of unorganized tho..:/)
2. rise of nationalism in soviet satellite states, solidarity in poland , etc.
3. the failure of Gorbachev's policies.

now i really wish i had put in something about de-stalinization, but i was worried about time.. do you think that'll hurt me??

and for #5:
1. the protestant reformation broke up the unity of Europe , even though Charles V protested
2. that led to religious wars, virtual independence of German states through peace of Augsburg and Westphalia
3. decentralized throne as the emperor was elected, the witchcraft hysteria and petty burghers all caused social tension and unrest.

how do you guys think i did?? so far i seem to be the only one who grouped the "views" by the kid's duties to parents and vice versa, so hopefully that was what the documents meant..and will having two paragraphs both on religion (on #5) hurt me?

b u m p ?

:)

24 views and no answers? doesn't any one want to put me out of my misery?? :P

We all really have no idea. We're just as worried as you are. There is so much we could have done better.

yeah, hindsight is really 20/20. oh well.

for german, u had to mention the peace of augsburg, cuis religio, and German Particularism. Witchcraft is not true and historically inaccurate. (did not happend in Germany)

i did soviet union//fr revolution
my frqs were terrible.
i ran out of time.
my thesis was didn't answer the question.
and then i proceeded to not even answer my own thesis.

can't wait for july :]

i've actually never heard of cuis religio and Particularism. it never came up in our class.
why is the witchcraft craze historically inaccurate? it's in my textbook for APEC by Spielvogel. p. 417. and it did happen in Germany. "Many witchcraft trials occurred in areas where Protestantism had been recently victorious or in regions , such as south-western Germany, where Protestant-Catholic controversies still raged. As religious passions became inflamed, accusations of being in league with the devil became common on both sides. "

i'm more worried about the grader docking points because i focused so much on religion and not other areas....:(

yeah, i can't wait for july too!! aaagghhhhhhhh!!

how is that related to unification... Wars of Religion was not caused by witchcraft.

i didn't say it caused the Wars of Religion, i was using it as an example of social unrest during the period because of the religious tension between Germans. The social tension contributed to the difficulty in uniting Germany under the holy Roman Emperor.
sorry if that wasn't clear.

8parks, you still are wrong in the sense that you directly stated "Witchcraft didn't happen in Germeny" Try to sound real smart when you are not.

I think I did pretty good.
DBQ topics:
1. Teaching children with morals and as if they were gifts from God.
2. Disciplining children
3. Giving children the best upbringing. Fun. Used the picture in this one.
4. Children were merely an obligation. Used Montaigne's piece and the other document about the crying child who the father just left.

did your teachers instruct you at all in how to write a DBQ? our teacher NEVER did... now my friend wants to create a APEC revolt against her, cuz she never even LOOKED at our practice essays or puts anything in the gradebook. her TAs do EVERYTHING.

lol...crash and burn ouch. i dunno.

Banderson: Give me document proofs that witchcraft accusation occurred in Germany during this period. I doubt you have any proofs and you are acting all smart by saying I'm acting smart :) roll ur head more.

Your topics are also wrong. Each category must have at least two supporting documents. Your #3 is incorrect since you only used one document (the pictue)

The DBQ this year was much harder than usual. It asked you to do a lot.

yeah, the groupings weren't very specific. there was a lot of different random groupings...

8parks, athene already provided the instance of where he/she found the information about witchcraft happening in Germany. I am simply pointing out how athene previously proved you wrong. i could also do some research if you would like but I believe athene provided a page 417 from a text?

And with my topics you are obviously being condescending. I nowhere stated that the picture was my ONLY document in the group. It was included with the document about the mother discussing how she was raised (around doc 9 or 10) and an additional document. I just wanted to pass along how I included the picture.

You are a moron. Open your eyes.

read again. I said during the time period mentioned in the prompt. Please use your brain when you try to argue

I thought the FRQs were extremely easy, with the dbq being the exception.

it did happen during that time period, " "Many witchcraft trials occurred in areas where Protestantism had been recently victorious or in regions , such as south-western Germany, where Protestant-Catholic controversies still raged. " hello, this was right after the Protestant Reformation !! you could use logic to figure that out. Check P. 417 of Western Civilization by Jackson J. Spielvogel. Its in the same chapter as "Discovery and Crisis in the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries" , which was the time period indicated by the prompt.

the dbq was terrible to sort out and get started writing on.
although it wasn't my favorite topic, it really wasn't that bad once i started writing. but i went over time because it took so long to sort out which resulted in less time for my frqs.

the frqs, my teacher was discussing them in my ehap class today and what we should have mentioned for each essay.

lol...im going to stick a plastic fork in my eye....they are such easy topics!
the prompts for each frq for me were too vague and i had no idea what to focus on and therefore had some trouble with them.
but then again, this was my first ap and i might just not have been used to frqs. and i did start to panic a little when i read them.... :
