free summer programs

we should compile a list of free summer programs (e.g. rsi/ ssp/ nih/ ect)
If you know any other free summer programs, post here.
Also, how selective are these programs (percentage wise) and are there any programs that are not too late to apply for?

TASS- for rising juniors, highly selective 6 week residential writing/humanities program sponsored by Telluride. Too late to apply for 09, Applications available on the Telluride Association website in late November/early December.

TASP-for rising seniors, very highly selective (under 10%) humanities program sponsored by Telluride. Too late to apply for 09, Applications available on the Telluride Association website in late November/early December.

Free program, paid internship. competitive. Takes in 250 students all over USA. Research and engineering. 8 weeks of intense research. Many different labs across US.
SEAP

Mit summer classes for high school students. Enrollment just opened. See the educational studies program (esp) on the mit website. Sunday program is $30. Evening program is $600.

Seap enrollment deadline was back in january.

Rule of thumb - know what competitive programs you are going to apply to by thanksgiving. Write the applications of christmas break. Most all deadlines are january/february; last minute applications are a big mistake.

the MIT p\classes are taught by students and are not particularly rigorous -they’re intended for local kids to have something to do

[Seidenberg School Summer Experience - Pace University](http://seidenberg.pace.edu/summerscholars/)

is also free and seems pretty cool.

I feel like about 439769 of these threads have been started and none of them is really complete–maybe a mod should sticky one of them to make it a more easily accessible resource?
