Free textbooks = better grades

Makes sense to me.

[quote] A large-scale study at the University of Georgia has found that college students provided with free course materials at the beginning of a class get significantly better academic results than those that do not.

…one of the main reasons OER led to improved student results is because all the students had the materials on the first day of class.

Pell Grant students (about a quarter of the total) showed larger improvements in average grade and fewer D/F/W grades than non Pell Grant students. Not really a surprise.

Not really a surprise but nice to see it confirmed with data. Textbook prices are ridiculous.
