Free weightless flights for teachers and college students!

I was perusing the Northrup Grumman website and came across this very cool opportunity for middle school math and science teachers as well as college students planning to be teachers. It's a chance to experience weightless flights -

...the Northrop Grumman Foundation has teamed with the Zero Gravity Corporation to develop the Weightless Flights of Discovery program. The Northrop Grumman Foundation Weightless Flights of Discovery program is designed to inspire students to pursue science and technical careers by inspiring their teachers first. Practicing classroom middle school teachers and future middle school teachers have the opportunity to participate in hands-on science workshops and perform and experiment in a parabolic or "zero-gravity" aircraft flight that creates temporary weightlessness comparable to what humans would experience during space travel to the Moon or Mars. It also mimics how astronauts train for space flights.

Northrop Grumman - Northrop Grumman Foundation's Weightless Flights of Discovery

That's really cool...

That's amazing!

My H is part of the flight crew on NASA's zero-G aircraft, and college students can submit experiments which, if they are approved, they can fly on NASA's zero-G aircraft in Houston. They are also starting a program to offer flights to disabled veterans, so that should be pretty cool, too. To be clear, so that no one thinks Uncle Sam is wasting money (perish the thought), the veterans will only be allowed to fly when a flight is already scheduled for other work and there are open spots.

The Northrop Grumman aircraft is a private corporation. That's great they are giving that opportunity to the teachers and college students! NASA used to allow high school students to fly with experiments, but that got nixed. I see that Grumman isn't flying high schoolers, either. Liability issues for both organizations, no doubt.
