I’m assuming freelance writing? If writing is a central part of you, then yes, put it down.
Freelance (writing, creative arts, coding, etc) implies being paid. If this is what you mean, then yes, employment = ECs.
If you mean something you’re doing for your own enjoyment, then that’s a hobby and not an EC.
