Freeman Asian Scholarship

So who's doing it this year? Any past Freeman scholars here willing to give some advice?

And where are you from?

I'm in Hong Kong, and definitely applying. Wesleyan is easily my first choice.

Mainland China…I am also applying. Though Wesleyan is not my first choice (I applied ED to Dartmouth), it is one of my top choices (well I called a lot of colleges my top choices). How competitive do you think the program is?

I’d imagine it’s pretty competitive.

What are your stats and where else in the US are you applying?

I’m also going for UChic and Columbia.

Hi! I’m from Thailand. Hopefully I’ll at least get an interview. Relatively high stats (Don’t go to US/UK system schools) 2190 SATs 107 Toefl. Play violin 13 years. Foreign exchange student to CA. SAT IIs: Math 2 800 Physics 800 Lit 710 No national prize.

Applying to Amherst ED (4 more days!!!), Bowdoin, Bates, Princeton, MIT, Columbia, Swarthmore.

Need almost full financial aid, probably put my chance at the above mentions to almost nil.

Please!!! Let this year’s applicants be less than 100. Why did they ever drop the spots to 1 per country!

good luck with Anherst; hope you don’t have to apply to Wesleyan.

@mongooseberry, my stats are good but ECs are not impressive (probably why dartmouth deferred me) and I’ve applied to way too many schools…

Hey guys applicant from Indonesia here. When are interviews anyway? I heard around Feb, but not sure…

Personally I’m more worried about the <5 qualified applicants compared to the >50 average ones, and I doubt the number of seriously qualified applicants changes much every year.

@Claddagh, same here I applied to so many, but hey better safe then sorry I guess :/

I have a question!! I’m done with all my apps for Wes and I want to send my Freeman Scholarship Addendum via internet/online but does anyone know how to do that? Do I send it to Ms.Overton by e-mail…? Help!

So…the finalists have been confirmed in my country…

I just got an email yesterday, and scheduled for the 23rd Feb interview. Im from Indonesia. So did anybody else get notified for the interview session?

@Anansi hey, which school do you go to? And are you shortlisted for the interview? Hope we could meet :)

@Uncreatively where are you from?

haven’t got the email…guess i’m not one of the finalists…

Claddagh did you make it into Dartmouth? Mongooseberry what school do you go to?

I’m in Sha Tin College.

Are you from Hong Kong/also doing the FASP iPacman?

deferred…you?

Claddagh, i guess there’s still chance, since i got my notification on friday, so hopefully you’ll get it next week. Where else did you apply?

are you shortlisted for the interview mongooseberry?

slslsl: Yeah, I got an e-mail three days ago. Feb 22nd interview. Fingers crossed. What major are you thinking about?

I’m from Malaysia. Interview scheduled on the 21st.

Do you know what’s the reason for inviting our parents to the “cocktail reception” (not sure whether this is the same for other countries)? I’m quite worried about to be honest.

I don’t know, but I said my parents won’t attend. I guess that’s just an opportunity for your parents to get to know this school better and meet some alumni.

Are there any finalists from Japan?

mongooseberry, im thinking on taking economics  how about you?

verychicindeed, idk if any Japanese is here, but i’m pretty sure all the finalists from japan already notified, since they would get the decision letter before march 1.

Uncreatively, lc93430, my parent is not coming to the cocktail reception, it’s not mandatory. So nothing to worry about :)

Are you guys nervous? because I AM. I hope ms. terri is a nice and charming lady.
