Freeman Scholarship

no WesCheck doesn't apply for freeman applicants... in fact the email i got specifically says so..

Thanks, woebegone. :) Made my heart lift a little.

Haha ya welcomed. =)

Just posted my application yesterday. Freaky. ^_^ Btw, anyone sent it to their local AIG office? Do you get confirmation when it reaches them or when it reaches Wesleyan?

I didn't. Then again, what would be the point? :)

Congrats on the posting!

Haha saves some money on postage? Surely its cheaper mailing to ur local AIG office than mailing to connecticut... But I rather spend more on the postage than risking losing the mail along the way...

I live in Romania so I saw no point posting my app on December 30th to Asia then having it sent to the US. :p Decided to get all paranoid.

hey are any of you having an alum interview in January (before finalists are announced)?

Nope. I may ask my friend (current Wesleyan student, Freeman scholar) to 'interview' me, though.

hmm actually i emailed wes regarding this b4... dey advised me not to request for an alumni interview since i'm applying exclusively for freeman... i guess coz freeman application is really independent of the regular apps... dey dun even use wescheck...

o ok. they told me to go ahead with interview if i'd like, but to remind the interviewer to put that I was freeman applicant. But I guess not?

enilit: Do you know your friend's stats/major EC's? Don't need to post if you're not comfortable.

i applied commonapp, thinking they have some aid for internationals, but they converted (?) me into freeman applicant using common application and few additional essays/info. Is anyone on the same boat?

hello123: I'm not sure abt his stats. But he's an amateur photographer, excellent pianist and choral singer. He writes for a mag as well. Not sure abt his other EC's.

Amateur photographer...wow...that's so cool!

:) Emailed Malaysia's AIG office. Lady said she's sent my app to Wesleyan. Sweet.

Sweet, indeed! thumbs up

Little shivers of delight and fright?

Hehe... Ya. Got acknowledgement from Ms Shaw too. "Your personal application is complete with all required forms." <-- Phew! :D

Has your app reached Wesleyan?

Mine has, yes. It reached there by the 11th, I think? Sent it the Friday before New Year's.

was that "personal application" freeman appliation or common application?

i haven't gotten any acknowledgement yet... maybe i should e-mail her?

The personalized Freeman app. The so special one that there isn't an online version of it, so if you mess it up, you better pray your white-out don't show so much!

Hi guys, I'm the other Malaysian Freeman from last year. Good luck with your applications. They are opened up and examined by Ms Shaw on arrival, then will be looked at by a panel of big scary officials who will give recommendations. I think it is either Ms Shaw or Terri Overton who makes the final decision on who gets finalist status though. So far I only know of two applicants from Malaysia, Izzy and Enilit, any others?
