Yes, please!

enilit did mrs. overton and alice hadler interview you? they were really nice people, werent they :D it was a very casual interview for me, thank goodness there was nothing about politics! lol. :) we laughed a lot during my interview. it was really heartwarming, especially talking with mrs. hadler :D the reception was very fun as well, especially meeting the other finalists--they sure are great people! too bad i wasnt able to get their contact numbers :( i'm hoping for the best, but expecting the worst :)

(sorry, late reply.)

Pierre: Yes, they interviewed me. It seemed casual, nothing like those knee-jerking business interiews. ;) We laughed a lot, too!

Reception: 9 out of the 11 Malaysian finalists went for it. The finalists I met are all very, very nice people, 'most all (except for another guy and I) are doing their A-level's. We met the CEO of AIG KL also. (When we asked if he was an alumni, he said no, he's not smart enough (heh), he's with AIG KL. So we thought he was a company rep of some sort (like Ms Sofia) but later Dean Overton introduced him as the CEO! :D)

Hi Guys,

Glad to see such vibrant discussions! haha.. I'm Anand, a Freshman Freeman Scholar from Singapore. I remember how nervous i was last year while waiting for the results and, lo and behold!, I got the good news on my birthday! haha.. a nice present...

Anywayz, just wanted to say good luck, and if you guys have any questions, feel free to email me at agopalan@wesleyan.edu!

Happy interviewing/waiting/packing/shopping and let's not forget eating!!

AG

Hi, AG! :D welcome to the thread :) I'm sure you're having a great time at Wes! Have you already decided what you will major at? :) God bless you with your studies :D btw, please say hi to KaiShi for me! (just tell her I'm Pierre Marie from CC;) )

Hi, I'm a junior from Taiwan. I go to Taipei First Girls' Senior High. Maybe some you've heard of it? Anyway, my English teacher told me about this scholarship, and I have Wesleyan pretty high up on my college list. But I was wondering, I have dual citizenship (both US and Taiwan) so do I still get to apply for the scholarship? If anyone knows, please reply. Thanks!
You've probably received the notification letters by now. I hope you were all accepted and wish you the best of luck for everything!

As a dual citizenship, unfortunately you can't apply for the Wesleyan Freeman scholarship. BUUUT you can apply for the federal aid at all schools, which rocks for you. thumbs up

Hi, ROCKao! :)

thanks for the message! :D unfortunately the decisions arent out yet, and we're all psyched out..

yep, IzzyJ is correct--you can't apply for the Freeman Scholarship, BUT you can still apply to Wesleyan--and a whole lot of other US universities--and get oodles of aid! (which may even amount to full tuition :D) so, you're the luckier one! :D good luck! :D

hi guys :) do you have any idea whether they'll email us the decisions whether we get in or not? :)

Decisions should be announced over the next two weeks. I have already heard of a girl in Japan who received the good news. You will be contacted by post. Unfortunately only those who received the scholarship as well as the alternates will be informed. That's sucky, but it leaves open the possibility for them to pick someone else if those selected in the first round turn down the scholarship for something else.

You're a fountain of information, Eric. Thanks. :) (Though I wasn't a Finalist...)

thanks Eric :) Japanese finalists are informed a month earlier, I think, because of their school year system.
so they didn't notify you of their decision last year? :)

I just spoke to Therese Overton a couple hours ago. She said the decisions were mailed out on Friday (That's 3 days ago over here). We all should know before the week is over, I hope. Good luck to all of you.

Hey. I'm an applicant to the Freeman Asian Scholars Program from the Philippines and I just got accepted. I received the Fedex envelope today. I'm actually very very surprised.

Hey, congrats! Wooohooo!!

I need advice from a former/current Freeman Asian scholar. I just learned that I got in and I'm inclined to accept it. It would be nice to talk to someone who's been through or is currently going through the program. Send me an email lorenzopiccio@yahoo.com! Thanks

Congrats lorenzopiccio, I'll be sending you an email.

ENZO!!!!!!! CONGRATS MAN! I knew right away at the reception that you'd make it. :D all the best for you!

havent received anything yet here though. hahaha. at least I did my best! (and made it to the finalist stage :D)

enilit, are you from penang or sarawak? :) I'm one of the malaysian finalists. My name is Nikki. I was the one in black. We probably met at the reception?

Ooh...another Malaysian... WELCOME!!! :D
