I am an IB student currently in grade 11 and i am studying in India. I am in an international school so i speak english as my main language. My problem in french which is my second language. I am currently in french SL and i am very bad at it. I am currently getting 4/7 and 5/7. I am looking to study computer science and maybe economics at a university level.
I am looking at colleges such as USC (University of Southern California), Georgia tech, UCLA, and other in that league. My lower options are Purdue or Urbana Champaign for engineering.
I am sure that if i take French AB (AB- Initio) , i will get a 7/7.
Is it worth it? or will it my my university admission much tougher?
Note that even though i am a citizen of USA, I think i am considered an international student

First of all, I’m not sure if they’ll let you take Ab-initio. If you’re currently averaging a 4/5, then you do have the skills to succeed in the SL course. I think most schools won’t let you take it if you’ve done at least 2 years of French. Also, unis most probably won’t care much about your second language course, a 5 should do the trick. You should focus on getting 6s and 7s in your other subjects, I may be wrong though (IB student, French SL, 12th grade, India).

You are a US citizen who has been educated abroad. You need to contact each college and university on your list, and find out how you should apply. You are a US applicant for financial aid purposes.
