Man, I don't know a French word (knowing 2-3 words doesn't make any difference anyway, right?)
The reason I take French is to satisfy my Foreign Language requirement(Vietnamese shouldn't count) + in the future, I may one to waste 2 or 3 years in France, N.Africa + I love some French songs that I've listened to in VN( Oh Mon Amour,Magic Boulevard,Comma Toi,Bang Bang...), it's kinda weird not to understand anything(I feel the same way listenning to Chinese,japanese,Thais..music, but those languages are just way too complicated for my slightly above average linguistic ability, not that French isn't hard).
Anyone shares the same thoughts ?
Anyone taking this class from 2-3 p.m.? Maybe You can help me .

I took French in high school for four years and I enjoyed it immensely. Of course it was at a slower pace than taking it at Cal but I can read French pretty well (not ready to read Les Miserables perhaps, but I could read L'Etranger by Camus without problems. Just a few words on each page to look up).

If you have a strong grasp of English grammar, it will help immensely in learning French. If you also have previous experience with the Romantic languages (Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Romainian are the other four) or training in Latin, learning French will be easier.

Vietnamese was Romanized by some Portuguese missionary named Alexander Ross in 17th century. Thus, we Vietnamese used Romanic writing a long time ago. That's quite unique about an Asian country.

Yes, Vietnamese is Romanized and makes it quite interesting. As I'm not familiar with Vietnamese grammar, I cannot say whether it will be of great assistance to you in terms of learning French.

thnx eiffelguy.
