Does anyone know of a great french language immersion program, preferably in France? I'm currently a high school senior and I seem to be either too old or too young for everything.

I know of several language immersion programs. PM me and I'll reply.

BUMP. Same question.

I'm currently in Paris and I have just finished my summer studying here. I went to the Alliance Francaise here and I could honestly say that it was a very fun and enriching experience. You meet people from all over the world and best of all, your schedule is VERY flexible. You choose your courses, days, etc. You can attend one day and go touring on the other. But the truth is that you learn more outside of the school and on the street than you do with any immersison program. Bonne chance!

Rhino-can you post the French immersion programs that you know of? I am also interested in improving my French over the summer.

I know that quite a few people at my school's French program go to the Universit

I've been researching this for my daughter and we are looking at an Amerispan program. They offer French immersion in Paris and Switzerland and you can pick 2, 3, or 4 weeks. I've heard the Tufts Summit Program is the premeir one but it's 5 weeks and my D didn't want to go that long.

My daughter did a program through Abbey Road in Cannes last summer. On the whole, she felt the Abbey Road program was not terribly worthwhile, as you can go directly to the College Internationale de Cannes ("CIC")for language study and don't need an American intermediary. (It is also cheaper if you do it on your own.) CIC provided truly excellent language instruction (at all levels) in a beautiful residential setting. The mission of CIC is to instruct foreigners, so the atmosphere is very international. One caveat: because it is so international, the kids often speak english (the universal language it seems!) outside of class.

The students, on the whole, skew a bit older, with the Abbey Road Americans
being among the youngest (16-18.) Lots of college-age kids. We were happy to have our 17 -year old chaperoned, but the kids chafed at the constant monitoring, and for a kid who is self-confident and responsible, I would think going on your own makes the most sense.

Have you considered the Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy? High school language immersion in CA or VT.
