French? Spanish? none?

(probably I won't send any language grade, because I already have 3 good SAT II grades... I'm just worried about what they'll think when they look at all my grades)

I took SAT Chinese w/Listening this November... I didn't think it was easy... I know Chinese cause my parents speak it and I take a Chinese course, but unfortunately I could never afford a trip to China/Taiwan, so I'm not really a Chinese girl... and that's the problem: comparing to a native speaker, my Chinese is poor.

So... should I take SAT French in January? Is it too difficult? (600+ is ok for me) I've never taken a French class or something, I study on my own, so I don't think it's enough good. Is it possible to spend a month studying it and doing well on the test?

I know only Chinese and French, besides Portuguese (I'm from Brazil) and English. What if, instead of French, I take Spanish (because it's similar to Portuguese), and spend a month studying it? Is it hard?

Or...is taking only SAT Chinese, even with a poor grade, OK?

If you are technically chinese, and you didn't do so well, that might be slightly negative I would think. Especially since the curve for Chinese is so harsh. Two wrongs put you at 790, which is like 48 percentile.

And if you dont think you can do well on either French or Spanish then you should look to taking other subject tests (Math, History, etc) that you will excel at. There is no requirement to take a language subject test, and most people dont.

The SAT II language tests are exceptionally hard. I can tell you from experience, I'm almost fluent in French, skipped three levels of French in school, took the AP test as a junior without taking the class and passed, and still BOMBED the SAT II. I mean, I'm a really good test taker, so it wasn't test anxiety. Plus, the SAT makes you send in all your scores. So now I have to send in my 560 French along with my 790 Math II and 750 Literature.You'd be better off not risking it.

How well do you speak french right now? If you have never taken a french class, I think it would be really hard to study for/do well on the French SAT II. No matter how hard you try to prepare in a month, it takes years of learning and experience. I would choose another subject or try to persue Chinese.

pursue******* wow sorry god.

How fluent are you in Spanish?

Si voce fala portugues, nao quer disser que eu fala espa

Hey, thanks everyone. I prefer French because... I like studying it. But I should pursue high SAT grades, not challenges (not now, I mean)... okay, I'll forget about French.

And danielcarp17, you'd survive well in Brazil! =) Answering your question: sim, concordo, se eu falo portugu

*was -->is , sorry
And yeah, there's no requirement to take a language subject test... but does anyone here recommends to take one?
