I'm a student in france, and i was wondering what universities in the US think about the french baccalaureat and french system in general?
and if i get 700 in math for the SAT I but only 600 for both the CR and W is it bad considering i am an international? (I am applying to UW-Madison, UIUC, UT-Austin, UM-Ann Arbor and Penn State)

Salut mec. Je vais parler en anglais comme

Ok sans probleme mec

Thanks for your response. Now for these schools what is a good SAT I score ? I wont be taking the SAT II since these do not require it

Fortunately, there are services which can translate your high school transcript into the American system for a nominal fee. This is the most official way to give the colleges you're applying to some idea of your performance. And they take into account the fact that good high schools in Europe typically don't give out all As. Even if your college doesn't request this (most do) I recommend it. It looks a lot more official then.

As far as I know, most Americans consider the European systems (especially the French system) at least on-par with their American counterparts. The perceived quality of education in Europe is generally unquestioned, if that's what you're after. Then again, they'll want to see what classes you've taken and have some idea of your grades.

You'll have an answer to the SAT questions in the Chances section. I have no idea.
What do you want to study?

I want to study engineering, so Im hoping math is the most important , without neglecting the english of course

Nice, same here. What you mean by hoping math is the most important ?
You weren't interested by GAtech, Virginia Tech?

I mean that colleges take into consideration that my math score is in the 93rd percentile and that since i want to study engineering my score of 600 on the english sections (i know its not that bad but from what ive read here people get much better scores) wont be too much of a bad thing for my admission.
I dont know i ahvent really looked at GAtech or Virginia Tech. i havent really heard of them (except for the obvious virginia tech incident) nor have i seen them in rankings. are they good matches for me?
thanks for ur replies

Maybe but all of your SAT score will be important.
GATech=Georgia Institute of Technology and its certainly great for engineering. Should be good in rankings. If your app is science oriented, you have chances because it is a Tech school.
VirginiaTech I have no idea.

Gov't_Mule,salut d'Austin, UT Austin is definitely familiar with Bac, however, I would recommend you to retake the SAT, their school of engineering is kinda hard to get in and SAT scores would probably be more important for them than Bac.Anyway, if you decide to come to Austin, let me know,I'll show you around, we got the French Legation Museum here, awesome live music(there are some french live bands), some french people(especially at the school of engineering), 6th street, and it's just a nice place to live in!

I like your choice of schools Gov't_Mule. If you can break the 2000 on your SAT, you have a decent chance at the schools you are looking into. Obviously, the better your scores, the better your chances.

Do you already have your baccalaur
