Freshman Acceptance v.s. Transfer Acceptance

Hi everyone!

So this was a question I’ve had that’s been bugging me for the longest time:

-If you get accepted to Boston College as a freshman applicant, what does that say about your likelihood of being accepted as a transfer?

I seen in previous threads enough students who were waitlisted as freshman apps. get accepted as transfers (not off waitlist but initial acceptance), and I had to ask. I got accepted as a freshman myself (deferred EA, accepted RD) and as a hopeful transfer applicant, I wanted to know if that could say anything for my future chances.

I know that there’s a lot of variance between years–I’m competing with kids from other colleges, not other seniors, and I have to maintain good stats in college and all that jazz, but rn my college history looks good (4.0 with a withdrawal I explained on my application, class was outside my major) and my HS record was on point (got me into BC, BU, Colgate, and a waitlist at Williams for my top schools).

Can anyone answer this one for me? Id really appreciate it!

also, sorry if I miss any typos above^ I hurt my finger and it makes it almost impossible to type, haha

It all sounds promising, but no one can opine on the “likelihood” of a transfer admissions. In some years, its a numbers game. For example, a few years back, the Frosh yield was much higher than planned. Thus, there were few dorm spots available for transfers, and BC accepted very few of them.

Good luck.
