I know freshmen aren't allowed to have cars, but is it possible to bring one anyway. I have a full ride here, so I believe my mom would be willing to pay for parking, etc. I hear transportation is horrible at WashU and I don't want to be stuck in one place.

Is trying to bring a car possible and smart?

isn’t there a metro that goes straight onto campus?

It’s possible, I’m in a suite of six and 2 have snuck cars on campus. It’s possible to get an off campus pass if you know an upperclassman, and if you’re willing to deal with it like my suitemates, you can just deal with it and pay the parking tix.

i wouldn’t say the transportation is horrible… there are taxis, and buses everywhere, and then the metro.

That being said I did bring a car as soon as I started my sophomore year. The school doesn’t offer year-long parking passes to freshmen, so basically you’d need to find a place to store your car off-campus (I doubt that’d be easy…), cut a deal with an upperclassman (fair warning: there are specific rules against this…), or else buy several monthly passes. Check out parking.wustl.edu for official info.
