I read on previous threads that most students get their books from other places besides "the bookstore" - but how can you get the ISBN #'s to make sure that the books are the required ones. The bookstore website only gives you the author/publisher. As I've been buying books for the 4 years at his private high school, I know how important getting the RIGHT book is. My son is engineering and those books are Soooo expensive - I want to make sure if I'm buying used, I'm buying the right ones.

We also had to purchase our daughter's books for high school, but the name of the book and the author were always enough information to be able to purchase them used (if available) on the internet. Many books have the same (or a similar) title but the author is always unique. Good luck.

I agree, the ISBN would be helpful to make sure you get the correct edition and what not. I plan to email my professors to get the exact info, the book store does not give enough info.

jml - I don't think this will be an issue if you use one of the book stores on Main Street, as they have a listing of books required for each course. My D was upset when some of the required books weren't available from the UDel book store, but she was able to get the missing ones on Main Street.

I get mine at Delaware Book Exchange on Main Street. Before classes start, you can either email the teacher directly, or wait until the first day of class to get book information from the teacher. The bookstore on campus, Ive had problems getting books on time. The Book Exchange has always had what I needed. Remember to keep them in good shape too, for buy back season at the end of the year.

don't buy your books at the book store, main street is cheaper and more organized. all upperclassman buy their books from either leibermans or the delaware book exchange (both located on main st.)

are there ever books that aren't available in other stores besides the UD bookstore? i bought most of my books off websites like BetterWorld.com: Buy Used Books to Fund Literacy Worldwide and [url=http://www.textbooks.com]Textbooks.com: Save on Millions of New & Used Textbooks/url without a problem but i noticed that some of the other books i needed had UD graphic listed as a publisher or the class name listed as an authour (ex. author = ECON 151) and werent available anywhere else online. are those kinds of books available in other delaware bookstores or can they only be bought through the udel bookstores. thanks

Leibermans and DBE have the bundles that include the book, extra chapters, CDs, web access or whatever else the professor threw in. You can't go wrong by contacting the professor first to see if you need all that exra stuff.
