Does NYU only give Calc I credit to AP students? i heard standard level ib kids don't even get credit for this course and have to take it. Well i personally am in neither AP nor IB, but i am just completing a calculus course that covers EVERYTHING in Calc I and half of Calc II. Is there any chance of getting credit for it? maybe a guidance counselor note?

and, whats this Business & Its publics course that stern kids take 2nd semester? i thought its like 4 courses per semester?

either way, you still have to take Calculus for credit purposes. if you have already taken some Calc, you would just take a higher level course, such as Calc II or Calc III.

i have a similar question: i really didn't know what i was doing on the AP exam for Calc AB (covers all of Calc I topics), but somehow i got a 4 on it. so should i take/retake Calc I or move onto Calc II (as the Stern website advises)?

AP/IB courses are only used for placement. All Stern students must take a math classes during their freshman year. I would advise taking Calc I again if you're not quite sure what you're doing. Calc II is quite difficult--a bulk of it is integration, and it sucks. Unless you're going into a math-intensive field (eg accounting or actuarial science), there's no need to risk Calc II.

Business and its Publics is a 0-credit weekly lectures all freshman take second semester in conjunction with Advanced College Essay.

katsy23: I took both AP Calc AB and BC, and I received 4's on both exams. I took Calc II first semester freshman year - in retrospect, Calc III would've been way too much because I wasn't good at series.

so ur saying i can get into Calc II without IB or AP IF my high school math course has covered Calc I units? ie a placement test. i don't really care about credits, it just seems like a complete waste of time if i took Calc I again, since i'm studying for pretty much all its topics right now for my final exam, and also half of Calc II.
