What do you think about my course load? Is it too much or doable? I am aiming to applying to medical school so I need a higher GPA.
1.) Chemistry Lecture and Lab
2.) Greek Civilization
3.) Introduction to Anthropology
4.) Introduction to Management
I dont know how difficult classes 2, 3, and 4 are, but you should be in pretty good shape as long as you have around 1-2 premed classes (bio, chem, orgo, physics, math) per semester. The only “bad” schedules in my opinion are those that try to cram 3 of those classes into one semester. In my experience (which anyone who knows more is welcome to correct), all of the AXLE classes are pretty much the same in terms of difficulty.
Ah, okay! Thanks for the advice
So, just for clarification, am I correct in thinking that AXLE classes (not counting the premed classes) are generally easier? @derp125
Well, a lot less people complain about them, that’s for sure. Because AXLE classes are so diverse, it’s hard to make generalizations. I had this one AXLE class where participation was 50% of my grade (no exaggeration) and no essays. Another AXLE class I had was 4 essays no tests. Yet another class was 3 essays and 2 tests. But overall, the AXLE classes seem to have higher averages. To put it in perspective, the average GPA of premed classes is a 2.7 (C+). The average total GPA of a freshman is ~3.25 (data taken from the Commons Cup), so you can see how the AXLE classes buffer the premed classes out. Obviously this data is flawed because not every student is premed, but it’s something.
