Has any freshman received information from your advisor yet? When are we supposed to hear from this person?
I'm a freshman entering CALS AEM next year and frankly I have no clue to which courses I should or have to take.
Any suggestions or information on course registration would be appreciated.

i’m sure the CALS AEM website has a curriculum page…

read and take what’s there…you probably have room for one or two electives

Most students will hear from their advisor some time this month. Others may not hear from them until orientation.

but u thought they were supposed to help us choose which classes to take? I certainly need mine before then because AP credits are complicating my schedule

You should be notified about who your advisor is before you get to campus. And if he or she doesn’t contact you to make an appointment to meet before add/drop, email him or her and try to schedule a time during orientation week! My advisor’s secretary emailed me in August before I arrived on campus so that we could schedule a time to meet before add/drop began.

If you need you advisor that badly, feel free to contact your respective department.

alright, well in that case, should i just add all the courses that I am potentially interested in and then meet with my advisor to decide which ones to drop? Or should i just contact them ahead of time? For me, its kind of difficult because I want to do a double major and so I might have to start taking the right courses immediately starting in the Fall

You can contact him/her now if you’d like. I spoke with my advisor over the summer and also met in person with him during orientation to finalize my schedule.
