Freshman Courseload...

How is the workload for courses like Honors Calc and Honors Chem?

Honors Chem covers all the material in the AP course in a few weeks. Then it is off into new material. You gotta love the subject, or like challenges, but since it is a rather theoretically oriented course, understanding concepts is far more important than just absorbing facts.

Honors O Chem, believe it or not, is similar. So many are used to O Chem as just measuring reactions, that it comes as a shock to see all the theory underlying the material.

Honors Calc first quarter ain't so bad. If you're pretty comfortable proving things (especially with the reals) then you should be more than fine. As a math major transfer student, I'm way overprepared, but if you're new to abstract math it will be challenging... but manageable. I've only had one homework assignment that has really stressed me out so far, and that's because I put it off almost entirely until Friday night. If you like math, it'll be fun. I would strongly suggest utilizing office hours if you are not comfortable with the material. I'd say I spend from 10-15/wk on the class, and that's generous. Varies based on whether a midterm is coming up.
