so i've found a lengthy pdf on the cornell website stating what the general ed requirements are for college of arts and sciences
but simply, what are the general requirements?
for freshman year, should we focus on finishing those GEs or put behind the courses for our majors?

Take whatever you like...because the chances are that whatever you take you will be fullfilling some kind of a requirement!

For arts+sciences the reqs are:

+3 semesters of a foriegn lang (you can test out of 1-2 semesters if you know enough from hs)
+5 classes from at least 4 of these categories:
-literature+the arts (LA)
-cultural analysis (CA)
-history (HA)
-Knowledge, Cognition, and Moral Reasoning (KCM)
-Social and Behavioral Analysis (SBA)
+4 Sciences/Math
(I think you need at least 1 math and at least 2 science)
+1 Historical Breadth
+1 Geographic Breath

General Reqs you also need are freshmen writing seminars and 2 gym classes.

Just take classes you're interested in. They will fulfill at least some of the reqs.

thanks so much! your list is so much more helpful!
