<p>You weren’t necessarily enabling her, she just felt “safe” offloading on you. If you weren’t a cellphone call away chances are she’d have a different way of offloading.</p>
<p>This might sound a little wacky, but anxiety, mild depression and difficulty coping with stress can often be a symptom of adrenal fatigue or dysfunction. Especially to the parent who said their child had a strange reaction after having blood drawn… It’s much more common than you’d think, but most doctors are unfamiliar with it. They are only trained to look for signs of extreme dysfunction, such as Addison’s or Cushing’s. Just putting it out there as something to look into.</p>
<p>I have a child who suffers with similar anxiety issues. I get very irritated by the tough-love stance on this. Sometimes it feels like people who haven’t been there bully one into taking this stance, like you are weak if you aren’t tough enough. </p>
<p>Anxiety is a serious problem, and expecting her to tough it out is not the solution . . unless you don’t think she has anxiety issues, and it’s something else.</p>
