Freshman deciding first semester schedule. Help please!

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting on College Confidential. I am currently pre-med on the biomedical engineering track and am in the midst of finalizing my bookbag for my freshman year first semester. I have a few questions about my schedule so I thought I would post them here. Any advice would be appreciated!

(1) I am contemplating whether to take Organic Chemistry I. I took AP Chemistry (got a 5) and the SAT-II Chem (got 800) so I was thinking I should take Organic Chemistry I. However, my instructor would be Professor Qiu Wang who is the only teacher for freshman level orgo and I’ve heard that she is notoriously harder than Professor Baldwin who is the primary instructor for the course. What do you guys recommend?

(2) I need one humanities elective my first semester. If I end up taking Organic Chemistry I, I would really like this course to be easy and not have too extensive readings (perhaps a seminar course would be well-suited). I tried bookbagging Fundamentals of Global Health with Professor David Boyd, but the class has filled up from upperclassmen registration. Any suggestions for an easy social sciences elective would be very helpful!

Thanks in advance.

Post this question on the 2019 Duke freshman Facebook page. Lots freshman and upperclassman willing to help with good info there.

You may have to request to be added to the group, but they respond quickly.
