I guess it really depends on you. I'm someone who lives in the dorms while my best friend lives in IT and hates it. I've hung out there a lot, and I too am not a fan, but it depends on your personality. If you like somewhere where lots of people party, I've found that some dorms and most of the suites (particularly Bromley and IT from what I hear) live up to this. Now dorms vary more. There are certainly party dorms (6 pack,) but there are also quieter more studious dorms like ISR where I live. That's my two cents from someone who lives in the dorms but has experienced a bit of private housing.

Oh and also don't be swayed by the idea of a "suite" and all the amenities, space, etc. In my opinion, the food was lacking when I visited IT in particular and the bedrooms themselves were tiny. So yes, the suites are larger than dorm rooms, but they're not exactly amazing. Bleak furniture, smells like beer everywhere, etc. So the "fine living" a lot of people talk of doesn't seem to live up to the hype.

The commons rooms (living rooms) in IT are as big as the 2-person bedrooms in the normal dorms. This might be the best advantage of a suite; it's not so goddamn cramped.

I'd take the six pack over IT any day. Who cares if they have living rooms... their bedrooms are so awkwardly cramped and you don't get the six pack experience.

...unless you don't want the party hard study hard experience, then you shouldn't take the spot in the six pack of somebody who does.

what about hendrick?

A girl I know that lived in Illini Towers didn't know how to do her laundry - that's why she chose IT since they provided have maids.
