freshman dorms 2020-2021?

heyo! I’m so excited and grateful to have been accepted into NYU!! I just now have no idea which dorm to apply to ?and I’d love some help from any current or previous students that might be able to recommend the right dorm? I’m Australian so I’ve never seen any of them, but I think I know what I’m looking for.

my biggest priority is that it has a good party scene/social life - I love all types of partying, so I know i’ll be clubbing and going to bars, gigs and raves but I think I’ll miss the house parties we have at home and so a dorm with lots of parties would be fun as. Noise and rowdiness doesn’t bother me at all, and I sleep like a log so if I’m staying in and there’s a party on it won’t bother me.

Other than that probably having good spaces for people to hang out - lounges or dining halls or whatever would be my next priority.

I’d love to be close to campus so I think Lipton or Goddard would be cool!! I just worry Goddard might be a little quiet although I am interested in the Inequality and Affluence stream.

Thank you so much for reading all this and offering any advice you have, I’m very thankful!! You are wonderful

Ok my reply is in no way helpful, but I just got accepted and I’m trying to figure out dorm stuff too! I want to have fun next year too and I also love to go out/party! I’ve been watching youtube videos but still can’t decide what dorm is best for me… What’s your ig? I’m trying to get to know future nyu people! Mine is @ morgan.alexanderr

@jessmhayes - look at 3rd North. It sounds like a good fit. My daughter had friends there and said it was the most social freshman dorm. Both Lipton and Goddard will be quieter.

@alexandermo oh hi!!! that’s so exciting!! My ig is @hayejess, ill add you haha. Ahhh figuring out which dorm is so hard, I’ve watched all the videos too and it’s just soooo confusing

@CaMom13 thank you so much!! I was wondering about 3rd North, I’ll look into it some more. Thank you!

oh and also, despite being quieter I’m leaning towards Goddard at the moment since it seems to be more community orientated and I really want to be very engaged with service activities and with learning about the NYC community and how we can help other people around us. Does anyone have any experience about Goddard? How much the activities are stream focused vs general?? I love the idea of EVERYTHING associated with the poverty and affluence stream since social service is so important to me, and I’m curious as to the ratio of activities around that vs activities purely designed to improve the community at Goddard?
