Freshman dorms: Double or Quad?

I need help guys!

The other day I messaged one of my friends who is a freshman at Cornell now about housing and dorms. He told me that triples suck (kinda figured) and I really don't like the idea of living alone in a single. He also told me that either doubles or quad was fine.

So right now I am deciding between a double or quad? Any opinions? I know I might be overreacting but I just want the best choice for me.

Oddly, the prices for quads are the same as prices for doubles. We asked about this and they said that “quads” are really two doubles with shared living space between them. We didn’t see any on our tours though. You could ask your friend for more details. It sounds like it might be a bit nicer than a regular standard double. You might also try to find out which dorms contain the quads, and decide if those are the dorms you are interested in. Although you can’t request a certain dorm, by requesting an “odd” room like a quad, you might end up limiting the options, for better or for worse.

Are the townhouses technically quads? Two doubles, plus a kitchen and living/dining space. Really nice option.

They charge you the single rate for a double in the townhouses, presumably because you get all that extra almost-private living space and kitchen.

Aren’t they far from campus though?

^I have that same question about townhouses. Will people become isolated from the rest of Cornell because of townhouses?
